Modern Pool Courtyard in Southlake Texas

Located in one of Southlake's premier luxury residential neighborhoods, this Modern Pool Courtyard was designed and constructed as a complete landscape design-build installation for an active multi-generational family that desired a sophisticated outdoor environment focused on recreation, entertaining, and everyday enjoyment.

The primary design objective was to create a highly functional backyard retreat where family and guests could gather comfortably throughout the year while maintaining a refined architectural aesthetic. Original Landscape Concepts developed a master plan centered around a dramatic custom swimming pool that serves as the aquatic centerpiece of the entire outdoor environment.

Rather than allowing the pool to dominate the property, the design carefully balances water, gathering spaces, lawn areas, and outdoor living amenities to create a smooth entertainment experience. The result is a luxury outdoor environment where every space remains visually connected while serving a unique purpose.

A spacious covered veranda extends the home's living area into the landscape and provides a comfortable destination for outdoor dining, conversation, and relaxation. Adjacent entertainment spaces flow naturally toward the pool environment, creating multiple opportunities for guests to gather without feeling confined to a single location.

The custom pool was intentionally designed with softened edges and surrounding turf elements that provide a more relaxed garden character than a traditional hardscape-dominated pool environment. The lawn panels introduce texture, softness, and visual balance while maintaining the clean contemporary lines of the overall composition.

One of the defining features of the project is the integration of fire and water. A raised pool wall was engineered to serve multiple functions simultaneously. In addition to creating architectural interest within the pool composition, the structure supports an oversized eight-person spa while also functioning as an integrated seating wall for the adjacent fire pit gathering area. This thoughtful design solution maximizes usable space while encouraging interaction between guests enjoying the spa, pool, and fire feature.

At the opposite end of the pool, a dedicated sun lounge destination provides a comfortable environment for relaxation and sunbathing. Carefully positioned umbrellas offer flexible shade control while introducing a festive resort-inspired atmosphere that enhances the overall outdoor living experience.

The property's location adjacent to a neighborhood greenbelt and pond provided a unique opportunity to visually expand the landscape beyond the physical property boundaries. Original Landscape Concepts utilized a minimalist wrought-iron fence design that virtually disappears from view, preserving safety requirements while allowing uninterrupted views into the surrounding open space. This approach creates the perception that the adjacent greenbelt and water features are part of the estate itself, significantly increasing the sense of scale and openness.

Landscape architecture, hardscape design, outdoor living, and pool construction were carefully coordinated to maximize every square foot of the property. The resulting environment feels significantly larger than its actual dimensions while maintaining a welcoming and intimate atmosphere for family and guests.

After sunset, the landscape transforms through an integrated lighting system that highlights the architecture, pool, entertainment spaces, and surrounding landscape. Underwater pool lighting, accent lighting, and architectural illumination create a dramatic nighttime environment that reinforces the property's luxury character while extending the usability of the outdoor spaces well into the evening.

Today, this Southlake luxury residence serves as a display of contemporary outdoor living, custom pool design, and estate-quality landscape construction.
